WHY supporting health of people in homelessness condition?

In recent years, all european countries are experimenting a strong increase of population that does not have access to social health services: migrants, people who use drugs, homeless, victims of trafficking.  In particular homelessness condition is growing in every country of EU, as consequence of economic crisis. The impact of Covid 19 emergency throughout Europe on homeless people is proving to be dramatic, with enormous human and social costs. The organizations working to help people in homelessness condition are in fight against the lack of opportunities, the growing number of people living in poor conditions, the decreasing of services provided by institutions.

Expected impacts

Strengthen and update knowledge and skills

For social workers employed in  partners organizations. The principal impact on the participants will be to strengthen and update their knowledge and skills to approach persons who lives in homelessness conditions or people who are marginalized.

Improve primary health care services

The impact on the target group will be to improved their primary health services, as well as empowering their ability to access to health services as first step toward social inclusion.

Increased coordination and collaboration

The impact on other stakeholders (municipalities, health services, local bodies, non governmental organizations) , will be to develop an increased coordination and collaboration so as to better respond to health and inclusion needs of homeless.
